20x22 1/4x1 Aerostar Air Filter

About this product

The 20 x 22 1/4 x 1 Aerostar comes in at an actual 19 7/8" x 22 1/4" x 3/4", built for a nominal 20 x 22 1/4 x 1 return. Odd-sized returns in this dimension show up in custom builds and certain regional markets where the original installer specified a non-standard grille opening. MERV 8 covers baseline residential filtration. MERV 11 captures pet dander, smoke residue, and most common allergens. MERV 13 handles fine particulates including bacteria, virus carriers, and wildfire smoke - the grade for households with respiratory health concerns. Pleated synthetic media with an electrostatic charge built into the fibers handles the actual filtration work. The pleats provide substantially more surface area than a flat fiberglass filter would offer at the same nominal size, which is what extends the service life to 60 to 90 days under typical residential conditions. The electrostatic charge improves capture of sub-micron particles where the physical weave alone reaches its filtration limits. Manufactured by Con-Air Industries in Orlando, Florida. Cardboard frame, reinforced for shape retention under blower suction. Frame collapse is a common failure mode in cheaper odd-size filters, and a collapsed frame allows unfiltered air to bypass the media entirely - this filter is built to hold shape.
