True Finds is operated by TrueFinds Technologies. TrueFinds Technologies is the business responsible for the information described in this policy, and "we" throughout means that company. This policy covers the Sinclair browser extension and the True Finds website.
The short version
Sinclair reads the product page you are on. Nothing else. No browsing history, no tracking across sites.
What the extension reads
One thing: the product identifier, called an ASIN, of the page you are on. It is read from the page address where the address carries it, which is most of the time, and from the page's own ASIN fields, a hidden input or the ASIN line in the product details, where it does not.
It does not read the price shown on the page. It finds the price block so it knows where to put the badge, and it reads no text out of it. Every figure you see in a verdict, today's price included, comes back from the price history lookup rather than from the page in front of you. It reads nothing else on the page, and it reads nothing at all on any other website.
The extension runs only on amazon.com. It has no permission to read any other site, and Chrome enforces that.
Our use of information received through Sinclair adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use information collected through the extension only to provide, secure, maintain, or improve Sinclair's disclosed price-history and price-alert features.
What leaves your browser
When Sinclair asks truefinds.ai for price history, it sends the product identifier. Like any web request, the connection also carries standard technical information, such as an IP address and user-agent, to the infrastructure that delivers and secures the request. We do not attach that connection data to the product lookup or write IP addresses to our application database. We do not receive the page, the price shown on it, your name, your Amazon account, your order history, your cart, or the other pages you have open.
If you type your email address into Sinclair's alert field and submit it, we store the email address, the product identifier for the product you asked us to watch, and a source label showing that the request came from the extension. Extension-sourced addresses are used only for the requested price-alert service and essential service messages. They are not used for newsletter marketing unless you separately and expressly opt in. If you never submit an email address, we never have one.
What is stored on your device
A price verdict for a product you have already viewed is cached in your browser for a few hours so the same product does not have to be looked up again.
If you press "Get this deal", your browser also notes that you did, for that one product, for 24 hours. That is what lets Sinclair say "Deal locked in", or "Price checked" where the verdict was not a deal, instead of showing you the same button again when you come back. It is a date and a product identifier, nothing more.
Both are stored locally, neither is sent to us or to anyone else, neither is synced to any account, and clearing your browser data clears them.
The True Finds website
Pressing "Get this deal" opens a True Finds deal page. The website also has an email field. No account is created. If you submit an address there, we store the address, the product identifier when applicable, and a source label showing that the signup came from the website. We use it for the alert or service you requested. Website-sourced signups may also receive the True Finds newsletter when that marketing use is disclosed at the point of signup. Extension-sourced addresses do not receive newsletter marketing unless the user separately and expressly opts in. Marketing emails include a one-click unsubscribe.
Saved items. On the Compare page you can save an item and give your email so Sinclair can tell you when it shows up at another store or is worth buying. We store your email, the item you chose (its name, brand, and the Amazon or store link it came from), and when we last emailed you about it. We use it only for those emails, at most one a week per item, and to understand which brands and kinds of products shoppers ask about, so we can add the stores they want. We do not store store prices with it; every email checks prices at the moment it is sent. Each email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your saved items at any time.
Asking Sinclair. When you use the Ask Sinclair box, we receive the link or words you entered and use them to answer you; a store product link may also start Sinclair's price record for that product. If you tap the microphone, your browser turns your speech into text, and depending on the browser that may be done by the browser maker's own speech service (for example, Google in Chrome or Apple in Safari) under its privacy terms. We receive only the text, never the audio. The Paste button reads what you copied only at the moment you tap it.
Our own pages use a small first-party analytics function that sends a small set of events to PostHog: that a page was viewed, and that someone used one of its buttons or links, such as continuing to Amazon or to a store, opening a verdict's meaning, comparing, or saving an item. Each event carries the product or store identifier, the verdict shown, which True Finds surface and entry point produced it, the page URL, a timestamp, and a random identifier generated by your browser. No name, email address, or other directly identifying field is attached to those events. The site does not load the PostHog JavaScript library, and we do not use PostHog autocapture, session recording, heatmaps, or cookies.
The random analytics identifier is created on your device and stored in your browser's local storage. It is not derived from your name, email address, or another personal attribute, and clearing your browser data removes it. Because your browser connects directly to PostHog to send these analytics events, PostHog necessarily receives standard connection information, including the client IP address, at the transport layer and may use it for coarse geolocation depending on the project configuration. We do not attach an IP address to the analytics event payload or write IP addresses to our own database.
That measurement runs on truefinds.ai pages only. We do not use an ad network, advertising identifier, cross-site tracking pixel, session recording, or behavioral advertising, and nothing we run follows you to another website.
We use service providers to operate True Finds: Vercel hosts the site and API, Supabase stores submitted email and alert records, PostHog processes the website analytics events described above, and, when email sending begins, Beehiiv may be used to deliver requested emails and marketing messages that the recipient has chosen to receive. Vercel processes ordinary connection data to serve requests and keeps short-lived operational request logs; we have not configured a persistent log drain. Our signup endpoint also uses a temporary in-memory rate limit keyed to connection information for roughly one hour to prevent scripted abuse. That rate-limit information is not persisted to our database.
We retain submitted email and alert records for as long as reasonably needed to provide the requested service, manage subscriptions, or meet legal and security obligations, and we delete them on a valid deletion request unless retention is required by law. Analytics and operational records are retained only for the periods needed to operate, measure, and secure the service or according to the retention settings of the service providers described above.
Our site does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. We do not use the site to track your activity over time across third-party websites.
What we do not do
- We do not read or record your browsing history
- We do not track you across websites
- We do not build an advertising or cross-site behavioral profile of you
- We do not sell data to anyone
- We do not use information collected through the extension for purposes unrelated to Sinclair's disclosed price-history and price-alert features or the operation, security, and improvement of those features
Your California privacy rights
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it, as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those two words. There is no exchange of your data for money and none for anything else of value, and none of it goes to anybody for cross context behavioral advertising. That is not a setting you have to find and switch off, because there is nothing to switch off.
California law provides several privacy rights when it applies to a business. Whether or not the CCPA applies to us at a particular time, California residents may make the following requests for personal information that we can reasonably identify as theirs.
Right to Know and Access. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask for a copy of it.
Right to Deletion. You can ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to applicable exceptions.
Right to Correction. You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. California law provides this right where a business sells personal information or shares it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do neither, so there is currently nothing to opt out of.
Right to Limit Certain Uses of Sensitive Personal Information. California law provides this right in circumstances involving specified sensitive personal information. Our current service does not use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right.
Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not treat you differently, or give you a worse product, for exercising a privacy right.
Write to hello@truefinds.ai and we will handle your request. For records tied to an email address, we verify the request through control of that address. Anonymous browser and analytics identifiers are not linked to a name or email address, so we may not be able to identify a particular anonymous identifier as belonging to a requester. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits it, subject to appropriate verification.
Our marketing email
Marketing email is sent only to website subscribers for whom that use was disclosed at signup, or to extension users who separately and expressly opt in to marketing. Every marketing email carries accurate sender information and a subject line that reflects its contents, a visible one-click unsubscribe link, and our valid physical mailing address. We honor marketing opt-out requests within the time required by applicable law.
If True Finds is ever sold
If TrueFinds Technologies is merged with or acquired by another company, or if its assets are sold, information may be transferred as part of that transaction only where permitted by applicable law and platform rules. Information obtained through Sinclair will not be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale unless we first obtain the user's explicit prior consent when required by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. Your information is not a separate asset that we sell on its own, and we will not sell it that way.
Before a proposed transfer takes effect, affected email subscribers will receive advance notice and a clear opportunity to request deletion. Where explicit prior consent is required for extension-obtained data, that data will not be transferred unless the required consent is obtained.
Affiliate relationship
True Finds participates in the Amazon Associates program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you click "Get this deal", you go to a True Finds deal page, and from there to the retailer. If you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The extension never changes, rewrites, or adds an affiliate link on Amazon's own pages. The verdict you see is not affected by whether a product earns us anything, and never will be.
Changes
If we make a material change to this policy, including a change to what the extension collects, how information is used or shared, analytics, retention, marketing, or ownership, we will update the effective or last-updated date and describe the change here. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before the change takes effect.
