This 16x30x2 Aerostar comes in at 15 1/2" x 29 1/2" x 1 3/4" actual. Designed for systems originally specified for a 2-inch slot, which includes a lot of older residential furnaces and some light commercial air handlers. MERV 8 covers baseline household use. MERV 11 handles pet dander and most allergen concerns. MERV 13 captures fine particulates: smoke, bacteria, virus-carrying droplets. The deeper pleat depth makes higher MERV grades more practical because face pressure drops as filter depth increases - MERV 13 in a 2-inch is meaningfully easier on your system than MERV 13 in a 1-inch. Pleated synthetic electrostatic media, USA-made by Con-Air Industries in Orlando, Florida. Frame is reinforced cardboard. Plan on 4 to 6 months between changes for MERV 8 and 11 under normal residential conditions, 2 to 4 months for MERV 13. Pets, active cooking, or wildfire smoke shorten those intervals regardless of grade. If you've been running 1-inch filters in a slot built for 2-inch, this filter will outlast them by roughly a factor of two.
